This program provides educational opportunities for interested medical students and residents in the Syrian Universities through direct online communication and interaction with US trained Syrian physicians.

Objectives:
1.    To enhance the basic medical education among medical students and residents.
2.    Emphasize on the most vital and critical medical case scenarios and daily clinical practices.
3.    Offer a good opportunity to explore the recent updates in the medical and surgical fields.
4.    Improve language and communication skills among the medical students and residents.
5.    Expand the knowledge about evidence based medicine and its value in the daily practice.

Methods:
1.    Direct online interactive case and problem based presentations.
2.    Direct online didactic lectures and topic reviews.
3.     Online evaluations.
This can expand to have the medical students and residents present case for discussion with the SAMS-NEW presenters after approval by the committee.

Presenters:
US trained Syrian physicians

Presentation guidelines:
1.    All presentations should be case or problem based.
2.    Topics should be selectively chosen to fit the level of medical students and residents.
3.    Strict emphasis should be upon the daily practices and emergencies.
4.    Highly sophisticated and specialized topics should be totally avoided.
5.    Presentations supported by audiovisual aids( images, pictures, EKGs) are highly encouraged.
6.    All presentations should be preceded by pretest and post test evaluations.
7.    Post test surveys are mandatory on those who attend the conference from Syria.
8.    All presentations should be reviewed by the online program committee to evaluate the appropriateness of the presentation.
9.    A set of presentations will be defined by the online committee as an” SAMS-NEW online course”
10.    Medical students or residents who attend the online course will be offered a certificate of attendance issued by the SAMS and SAMS-NEW chapter.

Schedule:
1.    The schedule will be released one month earlier than the anticipated course dates.
2.    All courses will be held on Saturdays and Sundays unless announced otherwise.
Registration:
1.    The Hakeem and plasma websites organizers are responsible for the registration process.
2.    Number of applicants is 15 per session.
3.    Fees will be managed by the responsible teams in Syria.
4.    Applicants MUST attend the entire course, otherwise no certificate will be issued to the name of the applicant.
5.    All applicants MUST turn in the post course surveys to be able to get the certificate.
